Trauma and PTSD
Sadly, most people will experience some form of trauma in their lifetime. It could be a car accident, abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, violent ciminal act, exposure to the violence of war, or a natural disaster,.
Sometimes trauma can continue to affect people after the distressing event is over. Sometimes the longer-term effects of trauma include nightmares, intrusive and unwanted memories, difficulty with relationships, constantly feeling on-edge, or feelings of hopelessness, pain, fear, and shame.
If you are experiencing any of these things after a traumatic event, please know that things can get better.
Research has shown counseling is the most effective form of treatment for overcoming trauma. I am trained in a variety of treatment methods, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
If you or someone you know experience the trauma symptoms listed above, I am confident that I can help and invite you to contact me today so we can schedule an appointment.
